Supervisor’s Speech
By Mr. Joseph Lee, BBS, JP
Mr. Anthony Poon, Dr. Dak-sum Li, JP, Principal Juliana Tai, my fellow School Managers, Guests, Teachers, and Students,

This is my second time to attend Ning Po No.2 College’s graduation as School Supervisor.? I recall my own campus memories every time I attend activities as this, and reflect how much joy I have gained in school.? Being born in the 1950s, growing up through the 60s and 70s, and starting my own business in the 80s, I have gain different views of the world with each stage of my life.? During childhood, my sights were limited to the streets I walked, and the people within my family and school.? I wanted to do well in school to build a stable business when I grew up.? Today, not only do I have the role of a son to elderly parents, but also that of a father to three daughter and the new role of a grandfather.? My horizons now extend to that of family and country, I expect myself to become wiser, more caring and contribute more to society and country based on the values I grew up with.? Dear students, as you start a new chapter of your life at your graduation, what do you have your sights on? How will you broaden your view?
Today’s Hong Kong, Asia’s world city, has come a long way from its humble roots as a fishing village.? Our Motherland is no longer weak and is gaining increasing importance on the international stage, today China boasts “One World, One Dream” in the Olympic limelight to the world.? Growing up in colonized Hong Kong during the 60s and 70s, we were limited to the quest of finding our roots in face of a vague self-identity for the local Chinese.? Your generation is luckier in that you are already certain Hong Kong is your home, and China is where your roots lie.? With such rich history and civilization, I trust you will seek for and promote the treasures and pearls of wisdom in carrying the torch of Chinese civilization. May we all achieve the shared dream of every Chinese throughout the world to live a colourful and meaningful life.
As we close the year with Christmas and New Year celebrations, we are reminded to be thankful.? We need to continue to learn to be humble and perpetually grateful for all that we are blessed with.? On behalf of the School Board, we thank our Principal Juliana Tai, our teachers, staff, students and parents for their contribution and trust in the past year.? May the new year bring hopes we work together for an even better tomorrow!
